Charter Harrison holds a CPM® - Certified Portfolio Manager® designation by The Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University.
Charter joined McAdams Wright Ragen in 2003 to focus on providing individuals, families, businesses, foundations and endowments solid investment advice and personal portfolio management. He strives to listen and understand the needs of each of his clients to establish an individual investment objective in order to select the most suitable investment ideas. His priority is to achieve his client’s long-term investment goals.
Charter is a native of Seattle and a graduate of the Overlake School. He holds a B.A. in Finance from Seattle University and began his career in 1992 as an intern at Merrill Lynch. After 11 years at Ragen MacKenzie/Wells Fargo he moved to MWR to work with previous industry colleagues. MWR provides Charter with a value/growth investment philosophy, a comprehensive research team and track record, as well as a fixed income trading desk, which he believes best serves his clients in their long term investments.
Charter enjoys following the world and US economy, individual stocks and bonds, investment trends and the history of the markets. He has published his “Charter’s Market Outlook” newsletter for the past 14 years providing his opinion on the economy, asset valuations and his stocks of interest.
Charter’s investment philosophy and portfolio management is derived from his work with his father George Harrison who ran the Municipal Bond Desk and a retail book at Merrill Lynch for 20 years. Other industry mentors include Scott McAdams, Brooks Ragen, Paul Latta, John MacKenzie, Lisa Sroufe and Glen Hamilton.
Charter is active in the community as a member of Seattle Rotary #4, Past President & Treasurer of The Kiwanis Club of Seattle, Treasurer of the Seattle Bond Club, a past board member of Atlantic Street Center and an owner of Crystal Mt Hotels.
Charter lives with his family in the Leschi neighborhood of Seattle and is a member of the Seattle Tennis Club. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, as well as photography, tennis, skiing and biking. He cherishes the lasting relationships that he has established with his clients and their families.

The Five Star Wealth Manager award, administered by Crescendo Business Services, LLC (dba Five Star Professional), is based on 10 objective criteria: 1. Credentialed as a registered investment adviser (RIA) or a registered investment adviser representative (IAR); 2. Actively employed a s a credentialed professional in the financial services industry for a minimum of five years; 3. Favorable regulatory and complaint history review (please note unfavorable feedback may have discovered through a check of complaints registered with a regulatory authority or complaints registered through Five Star Professional’s consumer complaint process; 4. Fulfilled their firm review based on internal firm standards; 5. Accepting new clients; 6. One-year retention rate; 7. Five-year client retention rate; 8. Non institutional discretionary and/or non-discretionary client assets administered; 9. Number of client households served; 10. Education and professional designations. Wealth managers do not pay a fee to be considered or awarded. Once awarded, wealth managers may opt to purchase additional profile ad space or related award promotional products. The award methodology does not evaluate the quality of services provided. The award is not indicative of the award winner’s future performance. 2,978 Seattle wealth managers were considered for the award; 597 (approximately 20 percent of the award candidates) were named Five Star Wealth Managers.
